Sexual exploitation

box5This field of exploitation is the most widespread and it is characterized by a few specific elements, such as: forcing someone into prostitution for monetary profit; using physical or psychological violence as well as threats against the victim and or their family; running into debt with the trafficker for the travel to the destination country without knowing it and finally, the obligation to give up the proceeds of the exploitation to the criminal net.

The sexual exploitation can occur on the street , indoor, in the night club or on pornographic material production.

The 20th of February 1958, Italy adopted Law no.75/1958 (the so-called “Law Merlin”, from the name of the senator who first signed it), that established the closure of brothels, the abolishment of the regulation on prostitution in Italy and the introduction of a series of crimes aiming at fighting the abetting and exploitation of prostitution.
